Chester most searched for Zoo

According to Hitwise UK, the most searched-for UK Zoo last week was 'chester zoo', followed by 'london zoo' and 'edinburgh zoo'. Searches for the top 10 zoos all increased last week as the recent hot sunny weather coincided with school finishing for the summer break. 'Colchester zoo' and 'bristol zoo' rounded out the top five zoo searches.

Visits to Glasgow Rangers FC and searches for ‘flights to manchester’ spurred on by UEFA Cup final

According to Hitwise UK, visits to Glasgow Rangers Football Club’s official website have increased by 26% over the past two weeks. The site reached its highest ever weekly position of #7 in the Sports-Football category as expectation grows for tonight’s UEFA Cup final in Manchester. Since Rangers won their semi-final, searches for ‘flights to manchester’ have reached their highest point this year. On May 1st, bmibaby.com, one of the carriers servicing the Glasgow – Manchester route, experienced its highest single day share of visits since the Christmas period.

Sunny weather raises interest in camping

Recent research from Hitwise UK shows that searches for 'camping' and 'camping sites' increased by 70% and 75% respectively last week, as sunny weather played out across the UK. A quarter of visits from searches for 'camping' visited ukcampsite.co.uk, an online guide to camping and caravanning, resulting in the website entering the top 10 Destination & Accommodation websites for the first time. The remaining top five websites visited were camping equipment stores.

National Rail visits up 38%

RyanAir Free Flights Sparks Surge in Visits and Session Duration

Hitwise UK daily data reveals that RyanAir's website saw a 29% increase in visits from Tuesday to Thursday off the back of the free flights promotion, whilst discount competitor Easyjet saw its visits decrease 11%. Average session duration also increased, to 11 minutes 46 seconds on Thursday, perhaps due to reported site outages and slow loading times. Now you know.
