Google Download website receives most ever share of visits after Chrome launch

Recent research from Hitwise UK shows that visits to the Google software download website increased by 258% over the two weeks ending 13th September as UK Internet users rushed to download new browser Google Chrome. Wednesday 3rd September was the busiest day for the site as the site reached its highest ever Hitwise rank, at #67 in all websites visited.

48% year-on-year UK growth for Mozilla

According to Hitwise UK, the market share of UK Internet visits to the Mozilla website have increased by 48% year-on-year, comparing monthly visits from June 2007 to June 2008. Hitwise US data shows double the growth for the maker of the Firefox browser, with monthly visits increasing by 108% year-on-year.

Traffic to the Facebook Developer's website hits a new high

Recent research from Hitwise UK shows that UK Internet visits to the Facebook Developers website has reached its highest ever level since the website launched. 66% of visits to the site in May were from Facebook, while a further 12% were from the Microsoft search properties, Live.com and MSN UK Search. Facebook was the fourth most visited website in the UK during May, capturing one in every 43 visits.

More interest in iPod Touch than iPhone in the UK

According to Hitwise UK, daily UK Internet visits to www.apple.com were 23% higher yesterday as the new iPod Touch was launched, than on the 9th January when the iPhone was announced. UK Internet visits to store.apple.com doubled from Saturday 1st September to Wednesday 5th September and the website was the 33rd most visited website in Shopping & Classifieds. Now You Know.

Google Earth searches increase by 27%

According to Hitwise UK, searches for "google earth" increased by 27% for the week ending 25th August as Google launched Google Sky. UK Internet visits to earth.google.com increased by 60% for the same week. Now You Know.
