Crikey… They’re Throwing a Few Good Punches

The recently launched News Limited website, The Punch (www.thepunch.com.au), is catching up to competitor Crikey (www.crikey.com.au) – increasing its market share for June by 79% in the News and Media industry (comparing the weeks ending 06/06/2009 and 27/06/2009). Kiwi Online News Usage Outperforms US

Hitwise announced that New Zealand Internet usage of News and Media websites is almost double that of the US, as a proportion of all Internet usage. For the week ending February 16, 2008, New Zealand visits to News and Media websites accounted for 6.84% of all New Zealand Internet visits, whereas during week ending February 23, 2008, US visits to News and Media websites accounted for 4.06% of all US Internet visits. According to Hitwise Hong Kong, the top 3 News and Media - Weather websites as of the week ending 20 October 2007 were Hong Kong Observatory (www.hko.gov.hk), MSN Shell (weather.msnshell.com) and Yahoo! Hong Kong Weather (hk.weather.yahoo.com). The Hong Kong Observatory dominated the industry, with 44.47% market share.
