The launch of Google’s new browser Chrome, has spiked interest amongst New Zealand Internet users, with ‘google chrome’ ranking as New Zealand’s fastest moving search term during the week ending 06/09/2008. Other searches referencing this new browser, including ‘chrome’, and ‘google browser’ also appeared amongst the top 10 fast moving search terms during the same period. Google NZ News was the number one website to receive traffic from searches for ‘google chrome’ (7.76%), closely followed by Wikipedia (7.16%), during the 12 weeks ending 06/09/2008. Now you know.

According to Hitwise Singapore, social networking is quickly replacing email as a popular form of communication. During the period 02/12/2006 – 01/12/2007, the weekly market share of visits to the Social Networking and Forums industry increased by 26.7%, as visited by Singapore Internet users. Conversely, the market share of visits to websites in the Email Services industry decreased by 25% during the same period. As of the week ending 01/12/2007, websites within the Social Networking and Forums industry accounted for 10.01% of all websites visited by Singapore Internet users, while Email Services accounted for just 6.75%. For the week ending August 25th, research from Hitwise New Zealand reveals that Windows Live Mail has dominated the email services category, rising over 187% in market share since June 9, 2007, capturing 30.9% market share of visits. Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo! Mail capture 20.19%, 19.38 and 6.96% of visits to the category respectively. Now you know.

Hitwise Australia reports that for the week ending 18/08/07, the frontpage of www.yahoo.com attracted a higher percentage of Austsralian visits from the 25-34 and 55+ age groups, than the front page of the local Yahoo! 7 website, who attracted more 18-24 and 45-54 year olds.
