Ninemsn and Yahoo!7 Australia – What’s the Difference?
While ninemsn and Yahoo!7, Australia’s two leading generalist portals both consistently feature within the top 10 websites visited by Australian Internet users, there are several key differences when comparing usage of the two websites. According to Hitwise Australia, for the week ending February 16, 2008, the average session duration for visitors to Yahoo!7 was 8 minutes, 58 seconds, compared to ninemsn where visitors to the portal spent on average 17 minutes, 34 seconds. For the same time period, when comparing demographic profiles of the two portals, ninemsn had a higher representation of households with 35-54 year olds, whereas Yahoo!7 attracted a larger proportion of its traffic from households with 18-34 year olds.
