Where's Santa? Searching for Santa Online
As Christmas nears, Australian Internet searches for ‘santa’ online have increased by 327% over the six weeks ending 8 December 2007. According to Hitwise Australia, for the four weeks ending 8 December 2007, Northpole.com (www.northpole.com) was the most successful website to receive traffic from the search term ‘santa’ representing 30.90% of all traffic. Other websites to receive traffic from ‘santa’ include Claus.com - www.claus.com (9.95%), Santa.com - www.santa.com (6.11%), and Australia Post - www.auspost.com.au (3.06%). Popular search terms containing ‘santa’ included ‘santa claus’, ‘santa games’, ‘letter to santa’ and ‘email santa’. Google Australia (www.google.com.au) was the most popular search engine used when searching for ‘santa’, with websites in the Lifestyle industry receiving the most traffic. Now you know.
