Social networking is the new email in Singapore

According to Hitwise Singapore, social networking is quickly replacing email as a popular form of communication. During the period 02/12/2006 – 01/12/2007, the weekly market share of visits to the Social Networking and Forums industry increased by 26.7%, as visited by Singapore Internet users. Conversely, the market share of visits to websites in the Email Services industry decreased by 25% during the same period. As of the week ending 01/12/2007, websites within the Social Networking and Forums industry accounted for 10.01% of all websites visited by Singapore Internet users, while Email Services accounted for just 6.75%.
