Rising Trend in Infomediary websites
Meeting consumer demand for more detailed product information on a range of finance providers, a crop of 'infomediary' and brokerage websites have popped up, attracting a wide online audience. A couple of examples:
Infochoice offers an independent infomediary service in the market place for financial services. Their aim is to provide unbiased information on a wide range of goods and services to allow meaningful comparisons and informed choices. Visits to Infochoice by Australian Internet users grew by 101.2% between September 2004 and September 2005. This outstripped a growth rate of 9.6% for Banks and Financial Institutions category for the same time period.
iSelect offers a service where users can compare, select and buy health insurance from a range of health funds. iSelect was the top ranking Health Insurance website during the weeks ending March 5, and April 16, 2005, accounting for over 20% market share of the category during both time periods.
