« Campbell's age did have an impact on the Lib Dems | Social networks' retail impact has increased by 153% in the UK since last Christmas »
We’ve talked about the rugby quite a few times, and the less said about the football the better. So I’ll finish off what has become Hitwise Sport Week with Formula 1, the other great British hope this weekend. Formula 1 websites are included in our Motorsport category, which is currently experiencing the highest level of internet traffic in two years.

The catalyst for this growth has been the spectacular rise of Lewis Hamilton and the resultant soap opera rivalry with his McLaren team mate Fernando Alonso. Consequently, I was expecting searches for both drivers to be peaking prior to this weekend’s decisive race along with the category as a whole. However, the peak in searches for ‘lewis hamilton’ actually occurred in August during the quiet period between the Hungarian and Turkish Grand Prix. The most likely reason for this is that Hamilton won the Hungarian race after having a run in with Alonso, but it’ll be interesting to see how this chart changes next week. Stay tuned!
