Bratz the most popular toys in the run up to Christmas

October 05, 2007

Following a charity interlude, here is the penultimate Christmas shopping 'hot products' list. Analysis of the top search terms sending traffic to top 100 UK online retailers shows that the most popular girls' toys, dolls, are 29% more popular than boys' favourite, toy cars. The most popular doll searches are Baby Born, Bratz, Barbie and Sylvanians. The most popular toy cars are Scaletrix, Dinky and Rory the Racing Car.

Bratz dolls are the most searched for dolls overall heading into Christmas. Searches for Bratz outnumber those for Barbie by a factor of 9 to 1, and account for one in four of all searches for toys online. Searches for Bratz dolls are double that for second placed Transformers, which have seen a big revival after the release of the Transformers movie this summer.

Traditional toys still feature highly in the list, with Scalextric, Playmobil, Barbie and Lego amongst the top 10 . The most popular Lego models during the four weeks ending 22 September were Star Wars, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones.
