It seems that spending the past three weeks relaxing on a sunny island was not enough to escape the fun of the "five things" meme. My five things will be a bit different. Antony Mayfield pinged me, requesting that I post five graphs for things we don't know. (Thanks Antony!)
Well, they aren't all graphs, but they are quirky bits of data some of which may even surprise you...
1. Iron Maiden's official website has been among the top ten most visited Bands and Artists websites for each of the past six months. The band seems to have a strong following among 25-44 year old men, in particular the Mosaic Group Ties of Community - Respectable Rows. This group (pictured below) is described as "Younger service workers enjoying a reasonably prosperous lifestyle in relatively small terraces".

2. Liverpool FC has been consistently the most visited football club in the past twelve months, followed by Man United.

3. The highest volume search query on search.msn.co.uk, uk.search.yahoo.com and uk.ask.com last week was "google".
4. The GI Diet is out, and the Cambridge Diet is in. At this time last year, the most searched for diet was the GI Diet. This year, it's the Cambridge Diet. I had not heard of this diet before delving into Hitwise data - but it seems it rose to popularity in the summer and more recently on the back of incredible shrinking woman Mandy Stinton from Evesham, who lost 24 stone in 24 months on a diet of chocolate shakes.

5. Google's social networking site, Orkut, proves that social networking is not just about lonely teens in remote communities. In the past four weeks, 72% of visits to Orkut were from internet users in London. Among the top 100 Net Communities and Chat websites, Orkut has the highest concentration of visits from London.

Since I am bit late to the 5 things meme business, I will refrain from nominating others for the time being...

Re 3: It's difficult remembering all these cryptic url's that people keep inventing. I mean, you can't then also be expected to type in www.google.co.uk.
