Hitwise Search Intelligence 3.0 - Digital Cameras

This week we launched v3.0 of our Search Intelligence tool. Over the next several days, I'll be providing some examples of the new functionality. One of my favorite new features is the ability to chart search terms by category, sub-category, custom category and even by site (previously we only charted in terms by as a percentage of all Internet searches).

In the example below, I've created a custom category for the top retail sites, our Retail 100 index and a custom category for digital camera review sites. Below is a chart for volume of searches on the term "digital camera" driving traffic to the Retail 100 index and the review sites.

The reason I chose "digital cameras" for this example is that I believe that searchers have multiple missions when searching on the term, at times they're looking to research a purchase (peak in July) at other times (this holiday season) the search mission is predominately purchase motivated (more traffic to retail sites). Now we can chart seasonality by search intent. So many charts, so little time...
