Search Term Pairs

September 22, 2005

One of the latest trends in Hitwise Search Term Charting is the concept of charting in related word-pairs. In the example listed below, (which is featured in LeeAnn Prescott's upcoming Apparrel and Accessories Report) we've charted the volume of searches for "engagement rings" and "wedding dresses." Notice the spike in "engagement rings" searches immediately before the holidays, possibly indicating holiday proposals. Also interesting is that there is a cooresponding spike in "wedding dresses" immediately after New Years.

This type of seasonal data can be invaluable to retailers in planning search campaigns.

One sidenote: we see an unprecedent increase in engagement ring searches during the last week, retailers should expect a similiar increase in wedding dresses searches over the next several weeks.
